  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Asafoetida (Hing) – A pinch
  • Gingelly Oil – 1/2 tbsp

Directions

  2. In a blender, add the items given under ‘To grind’ and grind it to a coarse paste (don’t grind it into a smooth paste.)
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add the items given under ‘To Temper’. Add the ground coarse paste, Turmeric powder, Pepper powder, and cooked dal and stir it for a minute.
  4. Add water and salt. Once it starts to boil, switch off the flame and allow it to cool for 5 minutes. Now add lemon juice and coriander leaves.

Lemon Coriander Rasam / Saaru / Chaaru / Soup is served with steamed rice and any Fries and Poriyal / stir-fry.

Notes

  1. Don’t boil the rasam, once you add lemon juice. It will turn to bitter taste.
  2. Instead of lemon, you can use lime too.
